SUPERMAN WAR OF THE SUPERMEN #4

1 OUT OF 5

What was the point of this being a Superman story that only setups up the Legion of Superheroes #1? The remaining Kryptonians are sent to the phantom zone, General Lane commits suicide, and everything returns to status quo. Wanted something that would have lasting repercussions to the Superman mythology however that is not what we got.

BATMAN RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE #2

4 OUT OF 5

Interesting concept having Bruce Wayne as a weapon of Darkseid. Now Superman, Green Lantern, Booster Gold, and Rip Hunter must stop Bruce Wayne returning to the 21st century or else the world will be destroyed. Without this bit of story piece the overall concept of the series is crap and has no substance. Having the events of Final Crisis play out shows that it was part of a long term plan with a conclusion. Great writing by Grant Morrison as well as the artwork by Frazer Irving.

GREEN LANTERN #54

5 OUT OF 5

Atrocitus discovers the city of great rage within the New York City subway system. While Sinestro, Hal Jordan, and Carol Ferris debate on the White Lantern in New Mexico. However the White Lantern has other plans such as finding the entities associated with the other lantern corps: Ion, Predator, Ophidian, Adara, Proselyte, and the Butcher. However little do they know someone is capturing the entities one by one like Parallax and Ion. The rest are located within the United States. An unexpected visitor comes to the story’s conclusion.

GREEN LANTERN CORPS #48

4 OUT OF 5

Kicking off with a meeting between Guy Gardner, Ganthet, and the Red Lantern Atrocitus discussing a threat greater than Blackest Night. Ganthet gives up his Blue Lantern post to become a Green Lantern situated with Space Sector Zero: OA. The art by Ardian Syaf is awesome – just minor tweaking as some of the GL symbols look a bit off. Otherwise great issue as a threat from the Alpha Lanterns looms overhead.

JUSTICE LEAGUE GENERATION LOST #2

3 OUT OF 5

Starts off with Superman looking at a video of Wonder Woman holding a sword instead of seeing twisting Maxwell Lord’s head. Superman doesn’t believe the JLI. Then Booster Gold goes to Batman and he states that Ted Kord committed suicide. Fire goes sees Wonder Woman and she believes she would never kill anyone.  Now the JLI is isolated and alone however the ending is more like a question mark than a cliffhanger. Since this is part of the Brightest Day titles I want to see where this series leads.

JUSTICE LEAGUE THE RISE OF ARSENAL #3

2 OUT OF 5

Cheshire and Roy are going at it. Roy is using various items as weapons: extension cord, tennis racket, stapler then they make out.  Roy goes out releases tension on some gangbangers then realizes he needs a score of heroin.  In his ‘Speedy’ state he fights Batman and looses and get sentenced to the rehab clinic for convicted criminals. Nothing much happens however as it comes out of the Cry for Justice series – I really need to finish this series to a close.

*****
Obsidian

Dry grass rustles, dampening senses,
Ears twitch at every snapped twig.
Resting in rows, leery of hunters
Bow and arrow, deadly silence.
Send the fawns scurrying.
There, in the corm, thinly disguised,
See the gleam in his eyes.
Whispering chert,
Strikes and burrows.
Stagger away, to the forest.
Who are these new predators on this land,
These uprights, this carnivorous man?
*****
Shazam Shaizun, you sure is smart, for a caucasian…yes, everyone struggles with ’snapped’ instead of ’snapping’…’chert’ is a change, replacing the title word ‘obsidian’…yes I writ this my very self. I hope this info helps you with your rehab…crack is a terrible thing to waste…

Yes, TD – but I can’t decide which I enjoy more. The poem or the rebuttal.
