sighting in a scope on slug gun?
whats the best distance to sight in a smooth bore slug gun, i only ask because the scope was not bore sighted, I shot it at 75 yards and the rounds were all over the place, would 50 be better to start off at in order to get it zeroed?
A quick and easy way is to start at 25 yards…or less. Put the gun on a bench, hold on the bullseye, and fire one round. While you then put the crosshairs back on the bullseye, turn the elevation and windage knobs, without moving the gun, until the crosshairs move to the ACTUAL point of impact.
You should then be able to sight it in at your desired distance pretty quickly. However, if at 75 yards, the rounds were really “all over the place”, even with you using the same aiming point, sighting it in isn’t going to help, and the gun will still shoot inaccurately.
