I think that the screws on the glasses and mini-photographic equipment typically need to be tightened after the abuse, on foot or by boat dive. Leatherman set not only good but a bit of ultra fine eye, Phillips does not seem suitable for my Skeletool. Pts some useful, but should be “pocket” or plastics are used for data storage.

The leatherman 40 piece bit set is probably more than most people will ever need,but when it comes to tools,especially ones you may need in an emergency,enough is never enough.This kit is well made out of tool quality steel and although the black finish will wear quite quickly the bits should last a lifetime.Although i personally believe the unusual flat shape of the bits render them not quite as strong as conventionally shaped bits,they are amply strong for their purpose and the flat shape helps tremendously in storing them in the leather tool sheath with the tool.This kit is strong,compact,durable and in my opinion,worth far more than my Amazon purchase price.

I just received order and contemplated return…funny looking flat bits but they fit the older 1/4″ adapter with internal locking ring. Bonus is case which fits many models. These are not shop bits for daily use as singles are not offered for sale but assortment is very good for technicians (Torx lacks tamper-proof hole). Leatherman backs warranty but I wonder about bit replacements.

Great Idea

I don’t know what you can say about the screw-driving bits. This little set combined with the Skeletool CX and the bit extension gives everyone just about any tool they would need to take care of almost any problem they will face. Whether it is Torx, Pozi, or more common tips this set will solve almost all problems you will come across.

Leatherman created a big winner here. Durable, small, alot of tools in one convenient pouch, and cost effective.

A “Must Have” accessory to the new Wave and others

The bit assortment expands the value of the Leatherman 830040 New Wave Multi-Tool with Nylon Sheath clear over the horizon. Hex, torx, Posi-drive, more Phillips and slotted bits give the New Wave a much broader range of screws and bolts to work on, as well as a very small slotted and Phillips. The bit click in smartly and hold up pretty well. The two plastic holders with their bits slide into a pocket in the nylon New Wave case snuggly. The only downside is the added bulk of the New Wave’s case with all this stuff in there. A small price to pay though.

Well worth the added weight, bulk, and reasonable price as it makes the New Wave a tool for many more occasions.

Compact and versatile

After 8 years of working in naval nuclear power plants where I could keep almost a full tool belt on every day it has been quite difficult adjusting to only having a few items on my belt. The combination of the Leatherman Wave along with this bit assortment has helped me maintain the work anywhere usefulness I was used to without looking odd in the civilian world.

Like several other reviewers to prevent from having too many sheaths on my belt I sorted through the bits to make one holders worth of the most common bits that I keep in same sheath as my Leatherman Wave.

Though a Leatherman and these bits will not replace a well stocked tool kit they will allow for rapid fixes on the spot. A real time saver.

What is better the Leatherman Skeletool or the Leatherman Freestyle CX?

Not sure why this is under cycling.

That said, better for what?

All the leatherman tools are well made, you just have to decide what specific tools are most useful and balance that against weight/cost.

Of the two, I think the Skeletool is “better” since for about the same weight it has more tools … but that’s me. See the link for a comparison tool.
