Left Hand

How can I get my left hand ahead of the golf ball?

I need to deloft my irons because i have a tendency for the hands and the club arrive at almost the same time so it adds loft to my clubhead, and it really costs me some yards. An ideal spot would be for the left hand to be at the left thigh, but mine is about right where the ball is. Any tips, causes for this, or drills would be great. Thanks

I had the same problem a few years back until I finally had enough and decided to take a lesson or two to cure my problem. When I talked to the club pro at my course he just laughed and said “Slow down your back swing. Slow equals control. Too fast of a back swing will throw EVERYTHING out of sync. One breakdown just leads to another”. That was the best lesson that I have ever had. It took all of 10 seconds and it didn’t cost a thing. Go out to the range and start out with a half swing, and then gradually work up to a full swing. After some practice you will develop a nice rhythm. There’s an old saying which I had heard hundreds of times, but chose to ignore. “The slower your back swing is, the further you’ll hit the ball”. Hope this will be helpful to you.
