Which scope would you rather own?

For general purpose hunting on a .270 rifle. Weight and size are an issue. The ability to have a wide field of view (less magnification) is also important. I know a 30mm tube offers more travel, but what does it do image quality and light gathering?

Here is what I’ve narrowed down to:

Burris Euro Diamond 2.5-10×44 – 30mm tube – 16 ounces – $500
Zeiss Conquest 3-9×40 – 1 inch tube – 15 ounces $400
Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5-10×40 – 1 inch tube – 16 ounces $380
Leupold VX3 3.5-10×40 – 1 inch tube – 13 ounces $500

I’m not too concerned with price . Not that I’m wealth, but the $100 difference between them will be forgotten next week.

Which would you choose and why? None of them doing it for you? What would you get in that rough price range?

Of the scopes you list, I would opt for the Bushnell. I’ve used Bushnell scopes on different rifles and have always liked them. I’m sure the other, more expensive, scopes work just as well but the quality difference would be very hard to spot, and, as far as I’m concerned, not worth the extra money.

Just to give you something else to think about. . . My step son has a nice .270 with a Simmons ProSport, 3-9×40, scope on it. For a scope that cost about $70.00 I am impressed with the quality. Easy to use, easy to sight in, holds its zero. Seems every bit as nice as my Bushnell.
