Can You Skin Your Way To Gold Farming Riches?

What would you say to the idea that there’s a way to make massive amounts of gold fast, while you go about your other business in the game? You might call me nuts, but you would be wrong to do so. One great way to grind out massive gold farming profits is through skinning. Yes, you heard me right. Although it may be hard to believe at first, when it comes to earning gold, skinning is the most efficient profession in the game.

Skinning is effective because you can complete it during the course of your travels without having to return to any zones or anything. Most World of Warcraft gold guides don’t even bother to list particular locations to visit because you don’t need them. You can skin the regular mobs you kill as you go about your business. What’s better is that anyone who is not a skinner will leave their kills just lying there for the first skinner that comes along. That means you can make significant gold easily without risking your own skin killing the mobs.

What are the Prime Spots to Skin?

While you can make serious coin just skinning wherever you happen to be, if you really want to rack up the gold, a good guide should be able to point you to some locations where you should spend more time searching for creatures and carcasses to skin. At lower levels, the kinds of areas you’re looking for are the ones like Stranglethorn Vale, where everyone and their brother is doing hunting quests. The expedition mastery quests, which add up to a total of 60 separate kills for each player, can leave trails of bodies ready for you to skin throughout the zone.

Which Critters to Skin

While an early strategy to skin any creature you see is a good one, there are instances where you will want to focus your efforts a little more concertedly toward certain mobs than others, especially when there’s a good chance that you’ll end up with rare leather drops.

In Outland for example, you can earn lots of gold from mobs that drop Knothide Leather and especially Heavy Knothide Leather. The abundance of this valuable leather makes Nagrand a very popular place for skinners to work. Most World of Warcraft gold guides specifically direct players to hang out in Nagrand and spend some time skinning any of the 180 different kills being done for the Nagrand mastery quests by each player. There are a lot of mobs out here that are skinnable and they respawn constantly. With a good World of Warcraft gold guide in hand you will make a fortune in no time.

There are three keys to making big profits from gold farming. The first is knowing where to be. The second key is knowing when to farm. The third is knowing how long to spend gold farming in any particular area. If you get good at this (both the skinning and the killing when the free carcasses run out, at the highest levels you can earn as much as 150 to gold per hour skinning. With an up to date gold guide and a little bit of grinding, you really can skin your way to a fortune.

If the Australian outback is full of Rabbits and Camels, why not donate the meat to relief measures in Haiti?

I learned long ago Australia has a problem with non native invasive species crowding out the animals that actually belong there. Why not hire hunters and skinners and refrigerator trucks around rthe clock to go out and hunt them, and then ship the meat to poor countries, as a donation to the poor. Round up the camels and sell them back to the Arabs for a profit. Why all the waste in one country and then not enough in the other? It’s the same world we live in.
The whole point is to take care of two problems at once, and solve them from the root.

it’s cheaper and easier to donate money
