Spring Airsoft Pistols – Basic Information For Airsoft Guns
Spring airsoft pistols are one of the most common types of airsoft guns and there are reasons why they are popular although they may be less powerful.
Basically, spring airsoft pistols functions using potential energy. There is a spring in every one of them. The user needs to pull back the slide every time he wants to fire a shot. When he did this, the spring will be filled with potential energy waiting to be released. The spring will be released when the trigger is pulled which sends the BB pellet out of the muzzle with a great force. The electric powered pistols also functions using a similar spring loaded system in addition to getting their energy from electricity.
Although spring airsoft pistols are very common, they do have their own disadvantages. The most obvious disadvantage is the spring pistol is less powerful compared to its electricity and gas counterparts. There are some few high end ones which can be quite powerful but the others are usually less powerful. Next, they also cannot fire more than one continuous shot due to their firing mechanism. Therefore, they are not capable of fire automatic or semi-automatic and you will face a huge problem if you are playing against an opponent using that type of firepower.
However, spring airsoft pistols are one of the most reliable airsoft guns available on the market and this gives them a clear advantage over the other types of guns. Under specific conditions like cold weather, other types of airsoft guns can malfunction. Furthermore, spring airsoft pistols are not relying on any external energy sources such as batteries; therefore they do not have the risk of running out of power. They are also more affordable than other types of gun and water would not cause them to malfunction.
Spring airsoft pistols are usually recommended for people who are new to airsoft guns. However, they are also popular with some airsoft enthusiasts.

how do spring loaded snap caps work in a gun?
I need to buy some dummy rounds to practice dry fire. I was looking at some spring loaded snap caps. How do they work? do they actually eject when you pull the the trigger? I dont know much about guns so any help and advice would be very helpful,also what would be the best brand of spring loaded snapcaps to buy?
The “snap caps” are designed for use with bolt action,single break open,pump and break open shot guns,revolvers etc;they won’t work for a semi-auto,which uses the expanding gas to operate the action.
The caps work by having a spring loaded false primer so that when the firing pin hits there is resistance and the pin won’t fatigue or be damaged (most modern weapons don’t have these problems). Some shotguns and rifles can be damaged with dry firing–pump shotguns and T/C Encore type rifles. As for quality,any would do.
EDIT:The caps won’t actuate the action on a semi;it will work as a single practice round however-not sure that was clear.
